The Shepherd Food Service would like to celebrate National School Breakfast week March 3rd - 7th. In doing so, we would like to share some information we collected with you on eating a healthy breakfast. Eating breakfast helps you keep your weight in line. Why? Because a good breakfast keeps you from feeling "starved" to other meals. When you are overly hungry, you are more likely to fill yourself up with too much food, especially too many fatty and sweet foods.

The Shepherd Food Service would like to celebrate National School Breakfast week March 3rd-7th. In doing so we would like to share some information we collected with you on eating a healthy breakfast. The word "breakfast" means to end a fast-a period of time without food. After you sleep for many hours, your body and brain run out of nutrients. Eating a good breakfast full of nutrients restores your energy so you have strength and staying power to do physical tasks better. Students who eat breakfast also find it easier to pay attention, think and solve problems and they have better memories. They also do better in class and better at physical activities than students who skip breakfast.

One thing that we talked about at the beginning of the year with all grades was that each of you represent yourself, your family, and your school. I want you to know that people do notice when you represent the school. The following note came this morning. "I just wanted to let you know what nice, friendly students I ran into while at Crystal Mountain. I am a local up here, and was watching my young daughter ski while waiting inside the conference center. These students (a sophomore, junior, and senior) were waiting for their bus to get ready to leave. The senior boy picked up my five year old`s toy truck and asked him how it worked. This lead to a nice conversation about how toys have changed, how computers are used in the classroom today, and how papers are written nowadays. We talked a bit about their stay here at Crystal. It is so nice to run into well-spoken young people. I just wanted to pass along my pleasure in seeing that !! They represented your school well; you should be proud. Thank you for reporesenting yourself, your family, and our school so well. It does make a difference. Mr. Bush
