The pictures in the above video are from a Teen Summit held the week of November 9th. The first Keynote Speaker, Dr Michael Fowlin, spoke to both the middle school and high school students in one assembly on the morning of Monday, November 10th. His message was ‘You Don’t Know Me Until You Know Me’. He brought a powerful message to students as he used ‘voices‘ of students with various handicaps and problems (some of which were obvious, and some that weren’t). Then on Wednesday (November 12th), the whole day was set aside for the “Teen Summit” in the Middle School. It was centered around the theme, “Learning to be…me, I’m Unique, A Friend, A Team Player.“ Again, students had several Keynote speakers and three Breakout Sessions during which they could choose from a number of topics. Marcy Weston of CMU, started the day in the gym. As you can see from the pictures in the video, the students had a great time. Many local area agencies and groups put on the Breakout Sessions. The final keynote was delivered by Andrea Abke and was followed by a Multiscreen video presentation by ‘Motivational Productions‘, entitled ‘Fearless‘. The summit was a great success, due much in part to the hard work of Teen Summit director Julie Salisbury and the entire Shepherd MIddle School staff.
